Darren-the cross-stitch king!

I have a wonderful friend who I would love to introduce to you all! He doesn't know I'm writing this up so sorry mate!

Darren is an amazing, top guy to many of us and is well loved and teased amongst our circle of friends. The reason he been featured here is his love of striking out and being true to himself! Be it wearing rather snazzy suits from cyberdog (a rave/nightclub brand) to crafting, Darren is cooler than cool to me!

So I present to you his cross-stitch journey so far!

Darren's first ever cross stitch!

Out of the blue Darren posted on facebook to us all the above iage he taken of his first ever cross stitch with the sentence "Real men do cross stitch!" I think its safe to say the response he got was both positive and humerous!


He powered on, enjoying his newest hobby and this was quick to follow...

and then this!

he downloaded a free pattern and set to work!

I love his wonderfully retro and geeky choices! They look so cool when finished and often so many of us drool over the pieces and try to steal them!

 We had some much beloved friends get married back in September and Darren a few months before hand started on a super secret project, keeping me in the loop and showed me this finished end result!It was so hard keeping this one quiet, especially since it looked amazing!

 The bride Jo and groom Dave have a mutual love for Scott Pilgrim which is where the two characters came from (it's ramona flowers and scott himself in case you didn't know!) And many hours work went into it and careful decisions on threads...but the end result is amazing in that frame don't you think?

I think the response from the bride and groom in this picture says it all!
They were completely blown away and i was so proud and teary to see Darren's hard work pay off in such a wonderful moment! (yes, that is darren on the left in that rather snazzy shirt!)
The cross stitch even recieved praise from one of the creators/artist of scott pilgrim himself! high, high praise indeed!

His latest epic scale project!

Darren is currently working on a huuuuuuge cross stitch picture of all the Scott Pilgrim cast!

This is the most recent up to date image he has uploaded on facebook and so far, I think we can all say it is looking epic hey?
He still got a long way to go but is already planning on the next project!

Darren is awesome and i admire his determination and strength to stay true to himself. He shakes off whatever flack he recieves for doling such a "girly" hobby but the truth is, he is so good at it! And there is more and more men doing crafts now which is brilliant to see! I think Darren has given us all a big kicksy up the bum as we are all starting to become more creative and more so, sharing it with each other which is brilliant!

Darren - you epically cool dude, you rock!
