Flowers

Flowers in the last year or so, means a lot to me.

They symbolise a level of hardship, depression-related despair and heartache that I wont go into here. There was a time last year that I was already planning to not be around for the autumn, there was no way I wanted to be alive no more.

I was hurting so bad that I don't think I could find the words or ways to describe how so, even now.
The wounds when it comes to mental disorders and depression are hard to heal, hard to forget and hard to live day to day with. And having a disability on top of that only just enhances the sensations to a whole new degree, especially when the symptoms of depression and a disability share the same common traits, that depression piggy backs disability and thus, hides itself from help and a straightforward diagnoses so well.

Flowers were my visual connection to this world.  They exist fleetingly on this planet for a short time and so beautifully so. Even if I feel dead inside and no longer want to be apart of this world and I walk through my house, in the dark, silent heaviness of it all, the bunch of flowers on the side would remind me that there's life. They will live on in all the splendour they can muster, even if I don't.
When It was bad, I would walk to the shops to purposely buy myself flowers to raise my spirits a little.

When it was really bad, I would surround myself with flowers, with the life force they so represent.

I had a special family friend who sent me flowers from all the way in Australia, an amazing woman who I very much love and respect. That started the whole thing. They were freesias and I can still remember where they sat and the wonderful smell they had.
Friends from then on, would send some flowers, and they would rally my spirits a little.
Flowers expressed what words couldn't.
Even now, when I have a bad day, I zone out and make it a mission to walk to the nearest supermarket and pick up a cheery bunch of flowers. By the time I have walked back home, selected a vase, trimmed the stems, mixed up the water and sugary flower food formula and selected a place for the vase to go, I would often feel a little bit better and calmer. The dark cloud doesn't go away but it makes it more bearable.

Flowers in some way, keeping me alive. My home is now a home with flowers around to give it a splash of colour and life. Waking up to a bunch of spring flowers on your bedside in the morning does wonders for the spirit and it keeps me in tune with the seasons as they fly by, reminding me its been over a year since my life changing accident.

They give me hope and a sense of life.

The Land Before Time...otherwise known as Torquay!

Hello! I recently attempted to break the January blues by a day trip to Torquay with some friends, where we had a chance to visit the Dinosaur museum there and generally have a laugh...
well we weren't laughing at the idea of this bloody thing...!
Giant spiders?! Giant Shelob-like spiders that could hunt small dinosaurs?! Now I like spiders (I'm the spider-remover in my house) but even that put the heebies on me! Imagine a spider running off with a small child for its breakfast?!

I think I'm gunna need some bigger spider-stomping boots here....

Just taking a ride on my prehistoric alligator...as you do!

Its official, all  archaeologists love haribo!

The museum had an opportunity to pose on a raptor as part of its merchandise and all patrons can see the wall of photos of previous visitors and perhaps the funniest picture of all is this...

Funiest photo is of a dog riding a dinosaur? Haha!

We had a great time in Torquay, browsing the shops and enjoying a fish n chip supper. For some reason we found in the local branch of TK Maxx a massive, fleece lined croc shoe....why? Is there a one footed giant roaming the west country looking for appropriate footwear?
Crocs are the devil's footwear I say! I never seen them look good on anyone and with sales going down, I think the masses are slowly agreeing there!

I stopped to take the time to picture this wonderful window display, shame it wasn't Christmas no longer to really enjoy it but nonetheless, how amazing beautiful are they?

How are you all? I hope you are all well! I have just returned from my ventures to London with many stories to tell and share!

From one animal to another, this hare is just amazing! I love his huuuuge ears and cute nose!
And in a wonderful, softly focus nod to taxidermy too, that remains sweetly nostaligic, not creepy with dead eyes fixated out at you!
Byjulia who make this hare, also makes some pieces she duds "textile art for the playful adult!" I like!
I do very much like her Rock Angel piece below...

Right now...

  • Is enjoying the sweetest thing, that is my new laptop baby! she is so awesome and runs so well! Zelda baby, I love you so! Right down to your last gigabyte!
  • Thse days, I have made the greatest discovery...choca tea! Yogi herbal teas are pretty awesome and intensely flavoured so none of that fruit tea that ends up tasting of wee...this stuff is addictively nice and smells out of this world!the flavour for choca is quite complex and so everyday for around 15 minutes, i have my own tea ceremony where I sit and enjoy a cup of this, inhaling the wonderful aroma, enjoying sipping it out of my little pink cup n saucer (and one of my home made cakes as you can see from the picture above!) and taking in the tastes that melts away into each other until you're left with a warm, tickle of chocolate on your tongue! Give it a try!
  • Therapy....ah, yes the therapy....well its going well though it is early days so far and its going to take years and lots of hard work to put right....yay!Its all so strange and scary and finding out more as well as starting to live with a mental disorder is heavy stuff I will admit. Like right now, I'm working on a therapy box full of things that helps soothes and distracts when things are depressing, low and suicidal.  The last few sessions left me upset and very angry with individuals and circumstances that have happened in my life. I'm learning that it is ok to be angry and given what happened in some case, it is certainly jusitifed to be angry...but on a productive level rather than simple resentment that is self destructive to yourself. End of the day, I'm slowly taking one step at a time...!
  • The house around me is slowly getting tidied and sorted. The clutter is being sifted through and gotten rid of, one way or another. Its easy for us to accumulate clutter as humans, but every once in a while we need to sit ourselves down and actually say "Do we need this? Really?" A person needs space to grow and rest and a time to let go of things that no longer matters to the soul...in a way, it is its own therapy and it is starting to feel good!
  • I'm booking and doing things ahead of the time. pretty much all of the tickets for things to see and do in London is sorted! (michel roux junior baby yeah!) Mothers day's gifts are boughts and Easter choccies are being stashed up whilst chocolate is cheap! I look at my calender and aim to do at least one social thing a weak with different sets of friends and so far, I've been busy and with many more things lined up for the coming months ahead! My birthday party all booked! Comic-con in the early summer! Family Holiday in november....I need it, I need to have things to work towards and to look forward to. Its a huge wide world out there, doing the same thing each weekend with the same people is ok for the short run but wheres that adventure and that self of self development? It is teaching me great lessons, and I have great friends and people in my life to learn those lessons with!
  • Medical side effects have cused me to put on weight and now I'm the heaviest I've been. Thankfully Im all cleared now to become more active in terms of sports and gym etc. Nothing too extreme or risky to the self at the moment but I need to start getting fit ready for my operations and surgery along with the therapy and rehab I need to do with the brain and ears... Its hard to know when That will be, appointments come out of the blue and I have to roll with it which makes booking things ahead hard to do! But the least I owe it to myself is to be in reasonable shape. I  dont understand people who let themselves go over weight to the point it interferes with their lives and complain about it, they are in control and yes it is hard! Life is hard! Owe it to yourself! So that what I'm going to do!
how is life for you all, my dear readers? I hope each and every one of you is well and happy at this time!

Introducing the meatzza...

Psssst....listen up ladies....come closer....let me share something that will get every man you ever know into a right, orgasmic state!

We all know men love their meat right?
Right!
Well I've come across a wonderful invention where it is quite simply the best thing yet since slice bread....!

The meatzza is a meat based pizza creation that is perfect for the boys and men in your lives and indeed any carnivorous person you know!

It looking good right?...

Ingredients

Preparation method

  1. Preheat the oven to 220C/425F/Gas 7.
  2. In a large bowl, using your hands, combine the mince, parmesan, breadcrumbs or oats, parsley, eggs, garlic, and add some salt and pepper. Do not overwork it, just lightly mix together or the meat will become compacted and dense.
  3. Butter a round baking tin of about 28cm/11in diameter and turn the meat into it, pressing the mixture lightly with your fingers to cover the bottom as if the seasoned minced meat were your pizza crust.
  4. Make sure you’ve drained as much runny liquid as possible out of your can of chopped tomatoes, then mix the tomato with the garlic oil, oregano and some salt and pepper and spread, using a rubber spatula, lightly on top of the meat base. Arrange the mozzarella slices on top, and then put in the oven for 20-25 minutes, by which time the meat should be cooked through and lightly set and the mozzarella melted.
  5. Remove from the oven and let it sit for five minutes, then adorn with some basil leaves and bring it to the table before cutting into wedges, like a pizza.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/meatzza_60080

the great thing is, you can alter the ingredients a little to your taste ie - more cheese, less herbs, more garlic...more meat?

I have even now made meatzza cupcakes which too have gone down very well!

Here's the darling Hubby happy as can be (he later went on to consume two meatzzas that night!)

so take this secret recipe and enjoy it and see those men's faces light up!

yes!

I shall be back soon!
Today I have made a purchase and now own my very first laptop/computer/major electronic ever!
I have a tiny but sweet with a mighty kick notebook which I love already so much, she's called Zelda! (yes the laptop is a "she!")
So this means I can be back on-line and updating blog-wise in the next few days once I get photos uploaded and things all written!
how so very exciting!
It was so fun picking a laptop purposely for me and blogging and I'm already amazed how I'm getting along with Zelda!
This could be a serious love affair! :P
